A pumice stone is a basic, yet interesting item that actually has many uses. It's usually used to smooth rough spots on your feet. It can also effectively reduce corns and calluses. If you're on your feet alot, or you wear shoes and socks that don't fit correctly and cause friction, or, if you love to go barefoot, then you may well have a problem with corns and calluses. Going barefoot and wearing sandals can also make your feet rough. What makes pumice stone interesting is the fact that it's "a light glass formed on the surface of some lavas". Read on and learn how to properly use a pumice stone to smooth your rough feet!

Steps to Properly Use a Pumice Stone

    1. The first step to smooth your rough feet is to soften up the skin. The best way to do this is to soak your feet in a pan of warm water that has a few drops of one of our Aloe Castile Liquid Soap fragrances swished around in it. Soak your feet for five to ten minutes, until the skin has softened sufficiently. If you're going to properly use a pumice stone while you're taking a bath or shower, you can, of course, skip the pan. However, make sure to soak your feet, though, especially if you're showering.
    2. Dip the pumice stone in the soapy water to get it wet.
    3. Rub gently over the rough area's. Rub hard enough for the treatment to be effective yet not hard enough to break the skin and cause bleeding.
    4. Following the pumice treatment, generously apply one of our Moisturizing Bath & Shower Gels all over, especially on your feet and the area's that just received the pumice treatment.
    5. Note: Before you proceed, keep in mind that smoothing your rough feet or reducing corns and calluses takes time. It's a gradual process that isn't going to happen by using the pumice stone just once. You'll need to use the stone gently. Rub too hard and you can break the skin and cause bleeding. You can also cause cuts and scratches. If you are Diabetic, or otherwise have circulation problems in your feet, you'll need to pay special attention to how hard you are using the pumice stone. If you have open cracks, sores, or other medical problems with your feet, consult your healthcare professional before you use a pumice stone.
